The Enphase IQ System Controller 2 connects the home to grid power, IQ Batteries, and solar PV.
The IQ Controller 2 provides "Sunlight Backup", meaning your system will continue to produce power during a grid outage. This is different from a traditional grid-tied system, which will shut down during a grid outage. The IQ Controller 2 is compatible with the IQ8-Series Microinverters as well as previous generation of microinverters including IQ7-Series, M215, M250 and S series, making it simple for home owners to upgrade their systems.
The Enphase IQ Battery all-in-one AC-coupled storage system is reliable, smart, simple, and safe.
IQ3T: Has a total usable energy capacity of 3.36 kWh and includes four embedded grid-forming microinverters with 1.28 kW power rating.
IQ10T: It is comprised of three base IQ Battery 3T storage units, has a total usable energy capacity of 10.08 kWh and twelve embedded grid-forming microinverters with 3.84 kW power rating.
The Enphase Difference
Most battery systems, like Tesla Powerwall, create a microgrid, temporarily shut off PV power, drain the battery to a certain level, then reactivate the PV power. This cycle repeats as needed. However, the power available is limited to the battery's capacity and output. Enphase offers a unique solution with their System Controller. It forms a microgrid and monitors house loads on a microsecond scale, delivering power as needed from individual inverters. This eliminates the need for batteries as overflow. If you add batteries, you can utilize the full power of the solar system plus the battery output. System Controllers can also integrate with Pure-Sinewave generators or bi-directional EV chargers, offering more flexibility than just using house batteries.
